Don't do it yourself or even worse use a backstreet garage – Why you should take your car to the professionals

Many vehicle owners try to save themselves a few quid carrying out various maintenance work on their cars. Whilst many basic checks can be carried out on your drive it is vital to understand the importance of bringing your car in to be checked by a professional vehicle technician. Here are some top reasons to bring your car in:
One of the first and foremost issues faced by mechanics is the need to be able to operate safely on a vehicle and within a safe environment. A professional vehicle technician will have been fully trained in health and safety and knows which parts of the car can be the most dangerous to work on. The workshop floor has also been designed to minimise risk – no matter how well kept your own garage at home is it will not compete with the safety of a professional outfit.
2. On board computer
All modern day vehicles are controlled by a computer which ensures everything in the vehicle functions correctly. When any part is replaced or adjusted it is most likely that the car’s computer will need recalibrating to make sure it functions properly. A vehicle technician will have the equipment and software to do this and make sure everything runs smoothly.
Needless to say if you carry work out yourself it will not be under any warranty. All work carried out at Concorde Auto Centre is done within manufacturers’ warranties using OE Parts fitted only by fully qualified technicians.
4. Torque to Spec
Torque to Spec means tightening bolts etc. to a vehicle’s specifications. Each vehicle will have its own set spec and the technician will have the right tools and information to make sure everything is set correctly. Under or over tightened bolts can be very dangerous and it is essential that these are setup right.
5. Knowing what to look for
A vehicle technician has undergone significant training and will have a great deal of experience knowing the ins and outs of hundreds of different types of vehicle. Their wealth of knowledge is an invaluable asset and will be hard to match. Scrawling though internet forums and help sites is time consuming and may not result in diagnosing the correct issue. You are always better off bringing it in to your local Concorde branch for a diagnosis.
With diagnostics scans for £30, clutches from just £78 fitted, brakes from £30, cambelts and turbos replaced for much less than you think it is not only safer to bring your car to Concorde, it also won’t cost you the earth!

"Excellent service from start to finish. Highly recommend. They'd forgotten to include something in the quote, and charged for it virtually free, fast, efficient, stupendous value for money and courteous service. And, if you are a woman, virtually every other car place in Peterborough talks to either your husband/partner/random male with you or to your 'chest area' which I hate with a passion - Concorde people seem to appreciate that a grown woman (even a none technical rather dim one!) has the nouse to own a car, and more importantly, pay the bill!!Incidentally, while I was picking my car up, there was an incredibly rude and unreasonable customer giving one of the guys a really hard time and the way he (the concorde employee) dealt with it was very impressive customer service (I'd have lost my cool, but he was ultra professional the whole way) "
